Nightlife in Bangalore: Night Ride From 80 km to 280 km

A night ride like this can show how Nightlife in Bangalore can be “Bhai, we got here pretty quick! It felt as if the ride is over even before it started! Let’s ride further, what say?”

“Sure! Where to?”

“There is a Café Coffee Day past Dharmapuri…. about  100kms ahead…”

“Hell yes! I’m up for it”

As many people before me have said, and many people after me will again discover, some of the best rides are those that are unplanned. And best are here with the Nightlife in Bangalore. What started off as a short Just Ride at night from Bangalore to HP Junction, Shoolagiri (TN) became a ride that stretched into the wee hours of the following morning.

It started with an innocuous question: “How about a Just Ride this Saturday or Sunday?”, and ended up becoming a 280 kilometre ride, because, why not? That is what a Just Ride is all about!

A couple of quick discussions on WhatsApp and we decided to ride to HP Junction Shoolagiri for our Just Ride last night. With this being a long weekend and most of the people having already escaped this city’s madness; our small group of 9 motorcycles and a Tata Xenon rode to HP Junction. That’s when we had the feeling; we need some more!

A quick round of refreshments and some chitchat later, we headed back out onto the highway towards Dharmapuri. There was hardly any traffic and we were riding in perfect discipline, making good speeds. When we finally pulled over at CCD, we had ridden non-stop for a hundred kilometres from Shoolagiri.

Over coffee we shared trip stories, conversations and banter. It was quite late already and since some of us were tired and sleepy, we decided it was time to head back. “We’ll take a pitstop after 50 kms” I informed the group; and ended up stopping only near Krishnagiri, some 70kms. I am sure there were plenty of tired muscles and sore backs cursing me inside their helmets all the way. After some tea and stretching of aching muscles at the toll plaza, we were back out on the road. I am sure there was some performance additive in our tea, because we stopped only after crossing into Karnataka at Attibele toll. I checked the odometer. 80 kilometres planned. 280 kilometres done. Whoa!

3:30AM, my watch said. Night Ride? More of a night-to-day ride! 😀 It was 4AM when I reached home, waking up all the street dogs and stray cats with the thump. This is what happened with my Nightlife in Bangalore. As many before me have said, and many people after me will again discover, sometimes a little craziness goes a long way. Literally. 😀

Cheers Road Thrill!
